Top of 5th
Jeter gets his first hit of the spring, a single into right; Cano doubles and ARod walks on four pitches. Swisher takes ball four on a full count. Great discipline.
Shelley Duncan falls behind in the count and gets punched out.
Yanks up 5 to 1 now.

Arod
Some booing when he steps up to the plate but nothing like he’ll hear in Cleveland. He walks on five pitches.

My Thoughts
Friends:
I’m sincerely tired of hearing about steroids and the players that use them. However, I do think its important to know who uses, and used them. I mostly hurt, because of the lack of respect for the game and its history, by too many of today’s players. I don’t understand the “me generation” that doesn’t respect the past, which should make them yearn for the approval of those that have carved a unique storied path, for them to follow. The games history, with Aaron, Mays, Musial, Berra, Ford, Gibson, Koufax, McCovey, Marichal, Banks, Seaver, Bench, Jackson, Killebrew, Kaline, Brock, Morgan, Brett, Ripken, Murray, Steinbrenner, O’Malley, Rachel, Robinson, and more, represents not only something that we all own a part of, but when you read the names above it’s a ‘Living’ History of our game. Those are the ones that players today should want to impress, and strive for approval from, not whatever they are so wrongly desirous of.
How do we separate the honorable players that have played in the same era and don’t deserve to be connected to the cloud of ugliness that hangs over the era ?
When I hear about one of our most gifted players as I did a short time ago, I literally weep inside. I’m sorry for everyone this incident touches.
Sincerely
